 The following information is intended as a guide to the technical aspects of v2011 of GSI3D. If you have a specific requirement or technical question about capabilities or system requirements please contact us.

Modelling

  • Scale independent (no maximum project area)

  • Unlimited* structural (i.e. geological) units

  • Unlimited* cross sections

  • Local grid coordinate system

  • User-defined stratigraphy and legend colours

  • Non-faulted 3D volumes

  • Medium structural complexity, including non-overturned folds

  • Subcrops

  • Onlap/overlap and offlap

  • Lenses within units

*Subject to available computer memory

Standard import/export formats

  • Open project file format (XML)

  • ASCII grids

  • GOCAD TIN .ts files

  • ESRI Shapefiles

  • Georegistered JPEG raster maps and vertical sections

  • Spreadsheet borehole import (tab-delimited)

  • Point data (tab-delimited)


Hardware and system requirements

  • Windows (minimum XP)

  • Minimum 1GB RAM

  • NVIDIA or ATI graphics card recommended with support for OpenGL 1.3 or higher

  • Disk space approx 200MB

  • You may require local administrator privileges when installing the software. Thin-client, web or other network deployment is NOT supported.
